Take My Hand

I am reminded of some rainy nights in the fall of the year when I stood getting more and more soaked as my girlfriend who later became my wife and I tried so hard to stall the evening's end. The walk home was always lonely and  I would kick my way through piles of fallen leaves until I stepped into my house to rid myself of my sodden clothes and climb into bed under warm blankets hair still wet even though I'd done my best to dry myself beforehand.
